It seems Abacus add-on doesn’t auto change calculated fields, you have to press ctrl+s every time.

Automatic calculations are done when the field value is changed and cursor exits changed field.
So if you change any field involved in formula - you just need to move cursor to next field and all calculated fields will be updated instantly.
Manual calculations can be done at any time using "Run formula" context menu item or "Run selected formula" button in "Fields list" form.

Just small addition : there is known issue when you create new contact record.

Here is Question and Answer from our FAQ [www.actpresentation.com] :

Q: When I create a new contact record and populate the fields (that are parts of formula) with values, the total calculated field does not update until I leave the record and come back to it.
A: There is a workaround - when you create a new record - just enter contact name and press "Save" button on toolbar ( or click menu item File/Save or pess Ctrl + S ). After that calculations will work for new contact.
